Announcing the DPT Clinical University Program!
To build the DPT Clinical Program, Shining Star is proud to have Christina join the team. Christine was instrumental in initiating this relationship with NIU as she is part of Northern Illinois University Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) faculty team, as well as a Shining Star Physical Therapist.
Christina is a pediatric physical therapist with experience working with infants and children in a variety of settings and locations. She holds a B.S. in Physical Therapy from the University of Illinois and an M.S. in Physical Therapy with a Pediatric focus from the University of Indianapolis. She has been working with infants, children and families for the past two decades, and is currently both an active NIU DPT faculty member and pursuing her Doctorate of Health Science at the University of Indianapolis.
Christina has taught and mentored in PT and PTA programs in New York, Florida and Illinois. Her areas of expertise include a variety of congenital or acquired issues such as developmental delays, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Spina Bifida, Muscular Dystrophy, Dandy Walker, Epilepsy/Seizure disorders, Autism, and many others.
Northern Illinois University (NIU) is just the first university to partner with Shining Star Therapy. The partnership is designed to provide NIU’s DPT graduates an amazing opportunity to achieve their academic DPT Clinical Program requirements within a real-world pediatric setting, working with the infants in their natural environment, i.e. their home or daycare within the early intervention program here in Illinois.
NIU is one of the top physical therapy programs in the country, and Shining Star is excited to work with and provide their DPT graduates both their clinical requirement, but more importantly, a chance to work with and possibly join the Shining Star team. If you are a DPT student at another university in the Illinois area and would like to work with Shining Star Therapy for your clinical, please contact us so we can get in touch with your university’s DPT program advisor.
